5 Ideas for Your Interior Office Space

Today, many companies are opting to forgo the brick and mortar office space and instead turn to a virtual office. While this may work for some companies, it’s not a good idea for everyone. If you are in need of traditional office space, you can make it as great as you please. There are so many great ways that you can create a productive and engaging environment. Take a look at some office interior design choices you should make.
 1. Open Concept
If you watch any home remodeling shows, you know that open concept is a big trend nowadays. Well, it’s not just for the home. Many offices are starting to learn the benefits of having an open concept inside their doors too. With an open concept, people are able to better engage with customers and one another. Everyone has a similar workspace, so there is no envy for those who may have an office. In addition, it opens up the office so that your employees have easier access to the individuals they need to get the job done, which helps to boost productivity.

2. Collaborative Space
Most offices have a conference room or two, but sometimes these spaces can lack motivation. If your conference room or collaborative space is uninviting, it will be hard to get anything accomplished. Make sure that you give these spaces the makeover they deserve. Pick fun colors that will keep people awake and engaged. Provide the right type of technology or tools to inspire thought, such as a white board, a TV, video conferencing equipment, and even snacks. When these areas are fun to be in, it will make it easier for your team to use them in an effective way.

3. Kitchens
There are those employees who will go out for lunch every day, and there are those who will stay in the office. If you don’t have a large and attractive kitchen or eating area, you’ll notice that many employees will eat at their desks. While you may think this is good for productivity; it’s not. It’s far better to give your employees the ability to get up and move around. Make sure that you have a space for eating that allows your employees to get away from their desk, mingle with other coworkers, and simply have time to unwind. If you want to be extra cool, you can throw in some catered food or free snacks every now and then too.

4. Security
Unfortunately we live in a world that is filled with crime. Your workspace shouldn’t be a place you need to fear for your safety. Make sure that you invest the money into the right type of security for your building. Maybe your employees need a special ID badge to get in the door. Maybe you have a full-time security guard on staff. There are plenty of things you can do, but if you can ensure your employees of their safety, it will help them feel more comfortable while at work.

5. More Control
There are some things you will want to keep consistent throughout your office, such as the wall colors and branding. However, there are a few things you should back off on and give your employees some control. For instance, maybe you have an employee who would prefer to sit on a ball instead of a chair. Maybe you have some employees who would prefer a standing desk. Maybe you have an employee who would like to control the temperature by their desk. This is all possible. While you can put some standardized items in place to give it a consistent look, don’t hesitate to give your employees some freedom in order to keep them happy.

Creating the right interior office space is critical to your production. Make sure to hire the right professionals to get the job done, whether an architect, contractor, interior designer, or all of the above.
