Is My Business Getting the Right Promotion?

Many small business owners have too much on their daily schedule to cover all the necessary bases in running a successful company.

With that being said, how can you put yourself in position to successfully get the right amount of promotion for your company, allowing you to get your name in front of as many potential customers as possible?

Among some of the things you should look at doing if not already:

1. Word-of-mouth - One of the oldest and still best ways to get your small business noticed. From current customers to employees, friends and family, always encourage others to promote your products and/or services. Not only is this a free means of promoting your company, but you put it in the hands of people who already have some sort of connection with you. As those you know tells those you don’t know about what you offer, you stand a good chance of increase your return on investment (ROI);

2. Social media - Even if you believe some CEO’s who say that they can’t get a true return on investment when it comes to social media, give it a try anyhow if not currently participating. Social media does not really cost you a cent unless you are outsourcing your SM needs, hiring someone in-house to do it, or spending money to advertise on different sites. Use social media to not only engage current customers, but also to reach out to potential ones. Social media is also a good vehicle for you to listen and learn what both consumers and even some of the competition might be saying about your business;

3. Videos and podcasts - These two methods of promoting your company are definitely popular in today’s Internet age. With videos, you can turn to sites such as YouTube to show consumers the different products and/or services that you offer. Podcasts can also be used likewise, but also allow you to discuss current trends in your respective industry. While you do not have to do one or both each week, periodical videos and podcasts can certainly work to your benefit;

4. Community events - Whether you run a small business in a big city or small town, being involved in your local community is always a good thing. Not only do you increase the chances of adding more business, but your reputation among the residents in your area should go up when you give back to the community. Whether it is sponsoring a local event, giving money to the event or helping to promote it via your business, community members will more than likely appreciate your assistance. In turn, you may convert some potential customers into new ones.

No matter what it takes to spread the word about your small business, never deny yourself the chance to promote it day and night.
