Why Word of Mouth Is Great Advertising
by Micheale Taylor Wed, 02/20/2013 - 12:06
What your clients say about your business, matters a lot. It goes a long way in shaping the opinion of others and when it comes to business, perception is often taken as reality. When looking for an effective form of marketing your business, your best advertisers are your clients. Their experience with your enterprise is what they will talk about and this can be beneficial or detrimental to your business.
Statistics show us that people are more inclined to engage in the services of a business that they have been referred to. Even without going through the many statistics that inform us of this, we could examine how we look for services. If for example one is looking for a good doctor, lawyer, technician or any other service provider, we are most likely going to provide work for someone who has been referred to as by our friends, family and other people that we know. On the same note, if we were planning to use a certain company, one negative review from either one of these people is enough to make us change our minds. This is because as consumers we trust what our friends have to say.
While this is arguably the most effective form of advertising, it is important to note that it takes a lot of work and goes far beyond providing value added services. A good reputation doesn't just come about and just one bad review is enough to threaten the continuity of your business.
It's Cost Effective
This form of advertising is not only effective but is also the cheapest way to advertise. Advertising is not always believable. When people see a really good advertisement on a brilliant deal, they often tend to wonder what the catch is. When the same person gets a first-hand account of the same brilliant offer from a person he or she knows, they automatically tend to believe it. With the referral system, all you have to do is endure that your business is based on customer satisfaction and you could save your business the costs associated with advertising.
Improves Brand Image
The more consumers engage in positive talk about a company, the more they strengthen its image. This is a brilliant way to improve your brand image and establish your mark in the market.
Strengthens Product Quality and Customer Satisfaction
For a business to get good reviews from its consumers, it needs to be above average. This means that the products or services are of stellar quality. As a result, the company is always going to strive to maintain and improve on its core business. This leads to customer satisfaction and chances of consumers going to the competition are fewer.
Leads to Customer Loyalty
The true test of the strength of your brand lies in customer loyalty. Customer loyalty is not just brought about by having the best services in the industry but by also developing a relationship with your clients. This leads to your customers taking up the role of brand ambassadors and they will not only advertise your products but also defend your business from malicious rumors.
Word of mouth is an effective and cheap form of advertising. It is not only beneficial to the business but to the consumer as well.
