Everything You'll Need on Your Next Business Trip

Packing for a business trip calls for some careful consideration. After all, the last time you went somewhere, you probably remember forgetting that one important item, or the other time when you brought too much and had to carry it with you everywhere. This article will serve as a primer for everything you NEED for your next business trip.

Plan

Before you begin packing, make sure you check your itinerary. It's important to remember that just because you are going somewhere doesn't mean you will always carry the same things, What you carry for a business trip, will nearly always be significantly different from a leisure trip.

Be Carry-On Savvy

For all of the debate over carry-on luggage, one thing is sure. After you have suffered through a flight delay, a canceled connection, or lost luggage, you will learn to pack differently, especially with regards to your carry-on. This might include another change of clothes, as well as something different to do. After all, how many times can you read airline magazines? A small book is a good idea, especially since it won't be damaged too easily and is easy to slip away into.

Mix and Match

If packing lighter is your goal, remember that you can have a considerably larger wardrobe if you mix parts of one outfit with pieces of another. The result is three outfits, instead of just two. And that doesn't even count the number of accessories that you can bring along for even more options.

Roll It or Fold It

Once you have decided what you take with you, now is the time to pack everything. The two watchwords at this point is ease and wrinkle-free. You need to make sure that everything is easy to get to quickly, and won't look like it just came out of a clothes hamper. Many luggage stores not only sell cases that will help you keep things looking good, but often hold classes free of charge to help you accomplish this objective.

Remember the Electronics

Whether you decide to include your Spanish teaching resources or your hairdryer and laptop, remember to pack all of the electronic gizmos that will make your trips--and the unexpected delays--easier to deal with. This goes especially for those little adapters, cords, and other extras that make everything run. After all, how many times have you left home with your computer or other tool, and forgotten the charger?

Ship Ahead or Print When You Get There

Paper can get heavy. Avoid it altogether by carrying your paper on your thumb drive, and print it when you get onsite. Either that, or if there are a lot of parts to what you will need, why not assemble everything at home, and ship it to where you will be. Hotels often have concierges who will accept packages when they arrive, whether you are there or not.

Keep these guidelines in mind, and your next business trip will probably go a lot smoother.
