Get with the Times with Work Scheduling

What is one thing you would like to change regarding your small business?

Chances are there are a number of things you would love to tweak or even change entirely from time to time. When it comes to your employee work schedules, do they run as smoothly as possible?

From running an office with a handful of employees to those smaller businesses employing several dozen or even hundreds, making sure your employees report for work on time and leave on time is important to the overall production level of your company. If employees are essentially coming and going of their own free will, you can have a number of problems crop up.

No Schedules, No Continuity

Among the issues that can occur if employees are coming and going without the proper work schedule maker in place:

  1. Lost production – Your clients rely on a smooth production schedule in order to get the products and/or services they want and require of your small business. Per example, if employee ‘A’ is showing up for work whenever they want and departing on their own schedule, employees ‘B’ and ‘C’ and on down the line can and oftentimes are impacted. It just takes one missing link in the production chain to throw things out of whack, thereby potentially causing a lost customer or two;
  2. Office jealousy – Small businesses can be especially fertile breeding grounds for office issues. Among the issues, office jealousy. If one or more employees is basically coming and going as they so choose, others in the office will likely not take kindly to it. That can lead to festering issues (lack of employee morale for starters) that can cause dissension in the workplace. Nip that problem in the bud before it gets out of control by making sure everyone is following their proper workplace schedule;
  3. Bad habits – Finally, you’re not only hurting your own small business when you don’t have a scheduling and communication program in place for your workers, you are hurting them too. Whether they are in their first-ever job or have been working for a decade or two, workers develop bad habits over time. You all know the new employee who comes to your small business and is early and/or on time the first few weeks. After some time goes by, they show up a little later each day, perhaps leave a little earlier each day. Unless you have a proven workable scheduling program in place, many will test the boundaries with you. Don’t put them or you in that position to begin with; get the right scheduling software in place from day one.

Running a small business carries with it many responsibilities, many of which you do have control of at the end of the day.

Be responsible from the get-go and schedule your employees with the best available scheduling software.
