Save Money and Your Business by Going Green

We’re living in the future, and we have now reached the point where consumers actually care whether your business is environmentally friendly or not. If you’re losing money, or if you’ve noticed that you don’t earn the same amount of money you did in the past, you might consider doing something about it. Don’t worry; you don’t need to start firing your employees – that’s a short-term solution anyway.

What you can do is start behaving more responsibly towards the planet we’re on. Clients are now ready to pay more money for products that are made by so-called “green companies.” In a nutshell – going green is the best thing you can do because of numerous reasons.

Replace light bulbs

As always, start small. No one expects you to become a green business overnight. The best and easiest way to start is by replacing all those old light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs. CFL (compact fluorescent lamps) and LED (light-emitting diodes) might cost more, but they also last longer. They simulate natural light, which will make your workers more productive.

Use green cleaning products

We all love that smell of a clean room, but did you know that that smell is bad for your health? By switching to green cleaning products, you’ll significantly reduce the exposure of your workers to chemicals and toxins.

As with the light bulbs, green cleaning products are more expensive than regular ones, but they last longer because they’re very concentrated. So, the next time you run out of soap or detergent – opt for buying a greener and safer option.

Don’t throw away your old furniture

You might think that those old desks and chairs in your office have outlived their usefulness, but that’s where you’re wrong. Instead of throwing them out consider refurbishing them.

If you absolutely have to purchase new furniture (sometimes old furniture is just too damaged), then consider buying used furniture, or buy new furniture made of repurposed materials.

Install an energy storage system

Having your own energy storage system has numerous benefits. The most obvious benefit of it is that your workers will be able to stay in the office and work even in a case of a total blackout. The second, not so obvious benefit is that, in the long run, you’ll actually stop paying so much money to your electricity supplier.

Stop wasting paper

Get rid of plastic bottles

Those plastic bottles you have around your office are actually bad, and you should consider banning them. Instead of wasting money on bottled water install a water filter in the office and encourage your workers to drink out of reusable jars or cups.
