How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I've wanted to operate my own resident camp since I was six years old. I fell in love with camping after my first pioneer camping trip with the girls scouts at Butternut Springs Girl Scout Camp (Mid-West). I assisted with coordinating and conducting several camping trips with private schools, home schools, and youth organizations. I figured I would offer this as a service which would lead me to my ultimate dream of having my own camp grounds and implementing my own programs.

What makes your business unique? Why do you think it will be a success?

Over the years, I have worked for several youth and community outreach, educational institutions, and organizations. I used the skills and knowledge learned from these places to build my own company. I also saw where many of these institutions and organizations fell short in truly offering programs that would be beneficial, accessible, and genuinely available to their target population.

My programs capture all youth, especially those that most institutions find it more challenging to service. My company is unique because are programs are flexible in their designs and accessible because we bring our programs to you (the requesting site). They are also full fledged certifying programs, with evaluations ending with an outdoor expedition/adventure.

What are some of your top business-related accomplishments, or business lessons learned?

Lessons learned for Mosiah's Roots Outdoor Adventures & Fitness is that even Sole Proprietors are never doing business alone. There's always others contributing to your business and/or your cause, which makes them partners...so to speak. And never be afraid to ask for help because we all need it, and with help, you will reach your goals much faster and more effectively.

Why should the Idea Cafe regulars vote for you?
