Semi-finalist Q&A: Sassy Creations

Lisa Blanton, owner of Sassy Creations, makes candles. Not just typical candle, though. Her candles are 100% Palm Wax. She makes them personally, in small batches, and hand pour each one. The name of her candle line is *Palm*Scents*.

Information from her grant application is available here. Read below for more, and if you have questions for our semi-finalists don't hesitate to ask them in the comments section.

Also, don't forget to cast your vote! YOUR vote will determine which entrepreneurs most deserve to be amongst the finalists.

How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I have made hairbows for my own daughters, now 6 & 8, since they were babies. I just suddenly realized, "Hey, I could sell this stuff!"

As for *Palm*Scents*, my candle line, I just LOVE candles, and starting experimenting with different waxes. Palm Wax won, I love everything about it, the way it looks, throws fragrance, and it is all-natural & clean-burning!

The "Sassy" part of my business name is inspired by my 2 girls, who are sassy little redheads!

What do you love most about running your own business?

I love being able to work by MY schedule, and still be home with my 4 children!

What makes your business unique?

I put so much of myself into everything that I make. My things are all hand-made, so each item is unique! I think people are tired of buying the same mass-produced, imported things that everyone else buys.

I keep my prices reasonable. Every mom should be able to buy her little girl hair things without breaking the bank, and still be able to buy herself a high-quality candle!

What are some of your top business-related accomplishments, or business lessons learned?

So far, just taking that first step to start my business is the greatest accomplishment for me! Making it into this round for the Idea Cafe Grant is amazing!

I have learned to be confident in my product, and myself, even when you come across those who would love for you to fail!

If I can dream big enough, and work hard enough, I know I can make it!

Why should the Idea Cafe regulars vote for you?

Idea Cafe regulars should vote for me because I represent your average American Stay-At-Home-Mom, giving everything I've got to run a successful business, while being home with my children.
