WOMbeat! -- Helping Small Business Owners with Word-Of-Mouth (WOM)

So far, 2009 has been just an amazing year. After winning the Idea Café’s “Innovation & Originality Grant,” we continue to be blessed with so much good news and press. Not only did we make a guest appearance on the CEO Lounge (listen to the program here) in January, but we were also selected to present at Startup Riot 2009 last month in Atlanta, GA (the only company from Florida and the only female presenter selected!). Much to my surprise, one of the attendees of this year’s Startup Riot even posted a story about WOMbeat! on their website TechDrawl.com last week.

Some of you may have already seen many of the new features we have implemented on our website, including a new home page and a new page for business owners (like many of the Idea Café regulars) so they can learn more about WOMbeat! However, we have much more in the works that we hope to roll out soon, and I am so excited.

Interestingly, I got an email from my hair salon over the weekend. In it was the typical promotional message with a coupon for my next purchase of products, etc. However, there in the very last line of the email was this quote, “If you like us, we hope you will tell your friends.”

Let me ask you, as a business owner, do you think that is the most effective way for a business owner to generate MORE word of mouth about their business? Can business owners do more than just ‘ask’ their customers for referrals and recommendations?

The very premise of WOMbeat! is to give business owners “real tools” that will actually result in more customer referrals. How? By doing two things: (1) Giving your customers a better reason for spreading the word, and (2) Making it much easier and simpler for them to do so.

So what does that mean? Well, in about a month, we should be able to SHOW you – assuming we can get our development done on time. So please stay tuned…

For now, we are slaving away so we can get these new features rolled out on the site for business owners like you. We know that word of mouth is the best form of advertising, and we want to generate more word of mouth referrals for great small businesses like yours.

As always, feel free to drop us a line anytime should you have questions or want to learn even more.
