Business Ideas to Avoid

Have you ever thought up an idea so brilliant, you checked it out online to be sure someone else had not thought of it first? There are plenty of innovators working hard to bring us some truly great products and services these days, so it can be tempting to want to share that bit of spotlight for your brilliance. However, some ideas should never even be thought about more than once, much less carried out. If anyone were to spend money on developing these ideas, it would be total chaos.

If the words "drive-thru" and "alcohol" have ever occurred to you in the same sentence, you must remind yourself that this is not innovative, nor is it legal, so it is definitely not a good idea. Sure, Americans love fast food and adult beverages, but they should never coexist in one convenient drive-thru location. The amount of drunk drivers, of which there are already insane amounts, would shoot through the roof. One of the worst tragedies of this country is the amount of deaths attributed to drunk driving, and this smart little idea would only make things worse.

Any time you decide to go after an idea based on the success rate of an existing company, especially one that is insanely popular, you set yourself up for failure about 99% of the time. You may feel like you could improve upon what this company has capitalized, but this is not a best practice of a young innovator. It is especially difficult to make things like this happen if you are not even on the radar, so the best thing to do is to come up with a completely original idea and work on building your name around that. Being a newbie inventor can have its ups and downs, usually more downs, but you can climb to the top slowly if you do your own work.

Let's talk blimps. Yes, like the ones you see flying in the sky. Do not, for one second, think that there is someone out there who would want their own personal blimp for anything more than a novelty. If you honestly think that there are people who could travel around using their blimps as their primary vehicle, you need to keep your thoughts moving far, far away from that idea. No one wants that except to say, "Hey, I have my own personal blimp!"

When you have decided that you have finally found your amazing, money-making idea, be sure to take it for a test run by talking to people close to you. However, do not stop there. Find a mentor whom you trust and talk to them as much as you can. You need all the planning, help, and time you can get at this stage, because if you jump in without being ready for anything, you may end up losing money and a great idea. Once you are ready, look into a personal loan and see who will invest in your idea. It is also good to check out reasons to get a personal loan so you make sure you aren't going overboard.
