Authoritative Guest Posts Should Be Your Business

Is your business one that spends a ton of time on content marketing and guest posting in particular? If the answer is no, why is that?

As more brands have come to see over the years, content marketing and guest posting have a positive and worthwhile relationship when done correctly.

When it comes to content marketing, your brand relies on spreading the message of why consumers should flock to you for business, not competitors.

Turning to guest posting, allowing authoritative industry experts to guest post on your blog and vice-versa is oftentimes a win-win situation.

So, if you’ve been a little slow to recognize the rewards that both can bring, especially as it relates to search engine optimization (SEO), take some time to see all the advantages content marketing and guest posting can bear for your brand.

Content is King

For starters, never underestimate the positive impact content marketing and guest posting can have for your business.

Among the factors making content marketing important to your brand via guest posting:

  • Visibility – When you have a sound content marketing plan in place, your brand and ultimately your revenue stream stand to be the beneficiaries. Guest posting content on blogs tied to your industry allows you to talk indirectly to consumers about your products and/or services. Without trying to force a sale upon them, you can show consumers what makes you stand out as an authoritative expert in your industry, giving them all the more reason to consider spending money with you. One word of advice on your content is that it needs to be worth the reader’s time. You can pump out piece after piece of content, but you have to give consumers a reason to read it. Make sure that it is useful and will give the individual impetus to keep coming back for more;
  • SEO – One of the ways to gain brand visibility is by using search engine optimization (SEO). It only stands to reason that your brand will receive more attention the higher placed it is on Google and other search engines. Achieving a higher spot is done by inserting a relevant link or links in each guest post your brand is a part of. Guest posting is a great component of the SEO strategy due to the fact that the links you get for your website are all acquired both naturally and organically. This means they are looked favorably upon by top search engines. Simply put, having an abundance of high-quality links allows your website to rank better. One of the ways to have a better-ranking website is by using pictures and videos to tell your brand’s story;
  • Imagery – While content marketing is typically thought of as the written word, there is so much more to it than that. More brands have discovered in recent years that videos can and should play a large role in their marketing efforts. If you’ve been lagging in this area, start adding more video to your content marketing endeavors. You should not only highlight your products or services, but also showcase some of your staff members or customer testimonials. Keep the videos short and sweet (30-60 seconds’ tops) so that you don’t lose the viewer’s interest. Speaking of interest, you will gain more of it for your brand when you socialize it;
  • Socializing – Another important component of the content marketing strategy is having the guest posts well promoted on social media. Assuming a blog owner agrees to run one of your guest posts, make sure you not only promote that individual post, but also the blog owner’s site and a few of their relevant posts. Doing so on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ LinkedIn etc. allows for more eyes to see what both you and the blog owner have to offer. At the end of the day, social media allows you to create a buzz about your brand.

If you haven’t been already; start guest posting as part of your content marketing strategy.

When you do, your brand is better positioned to be the talk of your industry.
