Business Security: How to Make Yours Better Protected

Are you looking for ways to make your business even more secure? If not, perhaps you should be. With business crime, and cyber theft on the rise, it pays to take extra precautions and ensure the safety of your company, its employees, and its assets. Security has greatly advanced in it's developments these past few years. Take a look at some of the ways you can better provide protection for your business.

Data Protection

Storing your company records on office computers is a good start, but it is inadequate for protecting your business confidentiality and records. You may want to move older print records off site to a storage location in case of a fire, flood, or theft at your main office. You should consider storing duplicate records of active files in a secure online storage site, or if in print format, at a secondary location that can be readily accessed.

Employee and Client Safety

Maintain a safe and secure facility for employees and clients. Install adequate daytime and night-time lighting, especially in parking areas and corridors. Inspect the premises at least twice a year to check for safety hazards like frayed rugs that pose a tripping risk, or windows that can be easily breached by thieves. Check the HVAC system, if it is under your authority, for possible gas or carbon monoxide leaks. Depending on your location and building structure, you may also want to do a radon test.

Security System

Consider installing security devices that monitor your company after work hours. Video cameras, motion sensors, window and door alarms, and connected smoke alarms to the fire department in case of fire can help to prevent serious damage to your business facility. You may want to explore online technology programs that offer options for setting and responding to alarms remotely from another location, like home or a different facility. There are many new technologies in security that make it easy for your company to stay safe and well protected. Hiring someone with an MBA in management of information systems can greatly increase the amount of digital protection your company receives.

Updated Locks

Your building's locks may need to be updated or re-keyed if someone other than regular employees have access to the facility. Sometimes a door lock will become worn or loose and will need to be replaced. On site storage areas should also be fitted with special locks that only a few people can open. Electronic locks are another option using human bio-scanning technology, like a palm print or an eye, for identification and access purposes.

With so many innovations available in professional security systems today, you may be able to save money on potential losses and insurance costs by investing in updated security devices. Find out how your company can be better protected from damage or loss by the updating or replacing of current security devices.
