The companies that are projected to do well in 2014 come from vastly dissimilar walks of life. Some companies are increasing their EPS growth due to specific market booms whereas other companies are riding the wave of increased consumer confidence.

Fans of Green Mountain's java have gotten hooked on the company's "breakfast blend" and shaped the resurgence in Green Mountain Coffee's popularity.

Melaleuca

Melaleuca is a mulch-tiered marketing company that sells everything from environmentally-friendly nutritional supplements to cleaning products. Inc. Magazine and other business publications have consistently ranked Melaleuca as a fast-growing company. As of 2004, the company's annual revenue was projected at approximately 10 percent. Frank Vandersloot, Melaeuca's CEO, has been spearheading research and development at Melaleuca for over a generation.

3D Systems

Based in South Carolina, this company owes its success largely to the avaunt-garde nature of its business endeavors. Although 3D Systems is a manufacturer of up-and-coming 3D printers, which can create anything from guns to prosthetic limbs based on a digital prototype, the company's founder has been patenting 3D printing designs as far back as the 1980s. 3D Systems reports profit growth of 112 percent and makes an interesting investment for futurists.

Questcor Pharmaceuticals

Questcor Pharmaceuticals purchased Acthar Gel for the bottom-basement price of $100,000 in early 2001. Both companies make an anti-inflammatory drug that combats coagulation and related medical complications. Since Questcor Pharmaceuticals puts a $30,000 price tag on each vial of its anti-inflammatory drug, the company has shown 85 percent revenue growth over the last three years.

HollyFrontier

Another beneficiary of the revolution in shale gas and novel technologies for cultivating natural gas reserves, HollyFrontier combines Frontier Oil and Holly Corporation. The company reports profit growth of an astounding 250 percent and revenue growth of 60 percent.

IPG Photonics

Lasers, contrary to popular thought, are not solely the realm of James Bond movies. IPG Photonics uses fiber optic technology to harness the power of photons for industrial ends. IPG Photonics helps professionals in the medical and manufacturing sectors harness the power of lasers to revolutionize the way that each does business. Perhaps this is why IPG Photonics experienced over 150 percent profit growth, according to Fortune Magazine.

Whether from market booms or innovative ways of going about business as usual, companies like HollyFrontier and 3D Systems are changing the way business is conducted in 2014 and beyond.
