Move Forward with Insurance Savings on Your Business Fleet

Whether you run a small, midsize or large operation, there is a good likelihood that you will need cars or trucks to conduct business in one form or another.

For some business owners, it will mean having themselves or employees go off to meet with clients. Others, meantime, will need company vehicles to make deliveries and/or service calls.

With that in mind, it is important for business owners to shop around for the most reliable and best-priced cars and trucks. If they don’t, they may very well end up spending way more than they need to.

Make Sure You’re Covered

In order to find the best vehicle/s for your business, make sure you scour the Internet and your connections.

Look at a dealer’s prices, warranties, customer service and more. If the deal sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is. In the event you need a fleet of vehicles, look to get a deal on multiple purchases.

With every vehicle purchase comes the obvious question, are you insured?

Whether you research Erie Insurance or one of the many others out there, you don’t want to get caught without the proper insurance.

As a business owner, you are typically held legally responsible for the actions of your workers while they are on the clock. This can include compensating those who have been injured and/or suffered property damage after one of your employees was involved in a company vehicle accident.

In the majority of states, comprehensive and collision coverage is in place for the vehicle regardless of who is behind the wheel. That said make sure your employees are covered and that they come with good driving records too.

As with buying multiple vehicles for your company look to see if you can bundle insurance coverage with a prospective insurer.

Know the Records Ahead of Time

Speaking of good driving records, don’t hesitate to bring that topic up during the interview process.

Sure, many employees will come to you with spotless or near spotless records behind the wheel, but many others will have a blemish or several dots on their driving records.

It is one thing to have a few parking tickets or an expired tag, it is an entirely different animal if you hire employees who have had multiple speeding tickets and/or a DUI or two.

If the person you are hiring is going to be spending time on the road for you making deliveries or meeting with clients, make sure they have good driving records so you don’t have to be worrying about potential accidents and potentially high costs that come out of them.

When your business requires you and/or your employees to get behind the wheels of company vehicles, drive off knowing you are properly covered and properly educated.
